Didn't think it was going to be a decent day at first either...

Dream Function - ran well early doors, but soon blundered and couldn't recover = -1pt
Grand Vizier - never really made much impresion after being behind throughout = -1pt

Yes Chef - 3rd despite a strong finish = -1pt

Back to winning ways! About time it has to be said, lets hope today can be the start of a good run!

Horses;

One pick and although being put up at 3/1 advised, Madame Boot went off at 6/1 and came home after a strong finish. +6pts

Football;

3 midweek picks and one loser, one winner and one draw. Derby couldn't end their recent slump and lost at home, Carlisle drew, but Wrexham managed a tricky away win at Wimbledon, meaning a small return of +0.68pts (Wrexham profit was +3.18)

Hope you got down today. Small steps, but in a positive direction.

Yesterday's Results

We seem to be in one of those runs at the minute. Everyone goes through them when working in horse racing, and if they tell you otherwise they're lying.

Brampour raced home, as did Classically, but being at short prices, our total for the day was -5.417pts.

Black Baccara, Rosewood Lad, Fantasy Fry all came 2nd, to again add to the frustration where we keep picking a load of horses which don't seem to be converting just yet.

Still, one has to retain faith, our methods are continually under scrutiny, when winning or losing to ensure we don't lose focus.

An annoying day. If anyone watches the race with Riot Police, one can certainly feel annoyed. Yet again though, three 2nd place finishes, especially with all being by less than a length, is unfortunate. Either way, we look forward to hitting some winners tomorrow!

Frustrating weekend again for our football picks. Not helped by late postponments, especially with Notts County winning into the 2nd half when their game was called off.

Horse Racing
Saturday:

A terrible day. Only Tagansky and Lovers Causeway offered anything in coming 2nd, but that was no consolation. We haven't had a day in racing like this for a while - with a -14pt loss recorded. Keeps us on our toes though, after a period of sustained profit.

Sunday:

Pipe Banner was a non runner, and European Dream nearly rescued all lost on Saturday but could only manage 2nd at advised price 16/1. A further -1pt loss

Monday:

Tewin Wood was a non-runner, and Snow Patrol came home 2nd. -1pt

Overall a really bad few days. We're certainly looking into factors why - I guess the dodgy weather isn't helping the going on some courses, but nothing has changed in our system. Will be back tomorrow, to get back on the right track.

Just the 4 bets for us today, but a profit returned again!

Edgeworth - 2nd by 1/2 length. Probably could have won but for the stuttering start = -1pt
Moonlight Rhapsody - Won and won well by 3.5 lengths or so. +4pts
Black Baccara - 2nd by 1.5 lengths. Led and ran pretty well, but couldn't find enough to win = -1pt
Majuro - Won and with ease. Led early on and was clear throughout, winning with 6 lengths in hand = +2.5pts

Horse Racing P&L = +4.5pts

Again, a slight unfortunate with the other two picks coming close second, but we're finally seeing some consistency with our selections, and that is profit returned for 3 consecutive days (i think!)

Towcester:
Yossi - Lost despite leading early on. Tailed off = -1pt
Atherstone Hill - 2nd. Prominent throughout, and led for a good chunk of the race, but at the end always held up by the winner = -1pt

Southwell:
Feet Of Fury = Won at 2/1 advised price. Won comfortably, even able to ease toward the finish = +2pts
Ana Emerati = Won at 7/4 advised price. Finished strongly to hold win unchallenged = +1.75pts
Eilean Mor = 2nd (to Ana Emerati.) Chased Ana Emerati but could not force the issue = -1pt
Bentley = Won as our 3pt bet at 9/2 advised price. Looked like it was not going to do anything midway through but a storming finish saw it breeze home in the end. It even traded at 64/1 in running! A nice winner = +13.5pts
Toby Tyler = Lost. Didn't start too great and took time to get with the pace and never challenged = -2pts

Wolverhampton:
Takajan = Lost. Decent start and set the pace but one paced = -2pts
Elijah Pepper = 2nd by a nose. Decent start but it looked beaten until a late flourish saw it power home. Wasn't enough, just. = -2pts
Miami Gator = 4th. Led early on and stood a fair chance but couldn't find the extra. = -1pt
Appy Jack = Lost. Always at the rear and made no impression = -2pts
Bute Street = 2nd but comfortably. Outpaced = -1pt
Bromhead = Lost despite being in touch but then weakening = -1pt

Again, despite a big winner with Bentley, and a profit for the day, one can't help but feel a slight bit of frustration. 4 2nd place finishes is always 'one of those' but it seems like Wolverhampton wasn't to be for us today!

Gold Story - 2nd place after a decent enough race. Kept in touch but couldn't power home right at the end = -2pts
Elusive Flame - 2nd by a neck = -1pt
New Latin - Won. Got the lead early and had enough to pull away late on for our 2pt bet = +2.5pts
