Sat 26th May and Tracking Bets

Guys,

You may have noticed the hast at which the Saturday 26th bets were posted. This was because I was not operating from home but in some seaside cafe with dodgy 3G connection, so I just had to get the bets up. You may have noticed that I posted 'Imperial Day' in the 4.00 Chester, when it should have been of course 'Imperial Djay', but I hope this did not deter anyone from backing it. Typos can be made, but I apologise.

Also, there were tracking bets, which I did not post so I am doing so now, to keep everything updated. They were:

2.30 Haydock - Frog Hollow
3.00 Haydock - Spirit Quartz

If being honest, I would have probably recommended Spiritz Quartz as an EW bet, considering the price in the morning of 25/1, the field size and the place terms on offer. But, because of after timing, I will settle as a 1pt loser in the tracking bets P&L. Frog Hollow was also a loser, so I shall edit the P&L accordingly.

Things have not started as well as one would have liked with the tracking bets, but I am going to persist, but right now I am glad we are only watching them!

Wednesday 23rd:
Poetic Power did lead, but weakened in the final furlong = -1pt
Putin a bit one paced = -1pt
Into The Wind never in it = -1pt
Spock WON @ adv 9/2, staying on well = +4.5pts
Kit Carson was going well, until a mistake, and then subsequently weakened = -1pt

So 1 winner, and a small profit of +0.5pts on the day.

Thursday 24th:
Gilded Age weakened when going well = -1pt
Winners Wish WON as the 2pt bet @ adv 9/2, ridden on well late on = +9pts
Cheviot Quest 3rd, just a tad one paced = -1pt

So our 2pt winner lands giving us +7pts on the day overall.

Friday 25th:
Smiling Shark was well supported but was never really in it = -1pt
Watheeq WON @ SP 6/1 by a neck, timing the run perfectly = +6pts
Satwa Laird rode prominently, but tailed off = -1pt
My Lagan Love well outpaced = -1pt
Viking Rose 2nd but just a bit short = -1pt
Tinkerbell Will was going well when hampered, and seemed to ease off = -1pt
Royal Swain was well backed adv 11/2 - 7/2 but weakened off = -2pts
Comical did lead but when asked, failed to deliver = -1pt

So -2pts lost on the day with only one winner, but poor overall.

Saturday 26th:
Hadaj well beaten as could not get a clear run = -1pt
Magical Macey led until late on but weakened badly = -1pt
Imperial Djay WON @ SP 9/1, running on well after a slow start = +9pts

So one winner on an unusually quiet day for us, but still +7pts added.

Sunday 27th:
No Bets

Monday 28th:
Supercilliary always chasing, but never a real threat = -1pt
Angels Will Fall just didn't have the pace required to hold on = -1pt
Act Your Shoe Size WON @ SP 7/1, making all and staying on well when pressured = +7pts

So another quiet day but a profitable one with +5pts added.

Tuesday 29th:
Bermondsey Bob led for a while, but just one paced = -1pt
Aiaam Al Wafa poor run = -1pt
One More Roman always in the rear = -1pt
Impact Zone WON @ SP 7/2, riding on well on the run in = +3.5pts

So another winner, and a small +0.5pts for the day.

Wednesday 30th:
Diman Waters WON @ adv 7/1, winning with a well timed late surge = +7pts
Le Toreador nowhere in the race won by Diman Waters = -1pt
Woodlark Island 2nd but just a bit one paced = -1pt
Landaman WON @ SP 6/1, and despite drifting in the market, made all, and quickened when needed to win well = +6pts

So 2 winners, and a 2nd, giving us a nice day with +11pts

So over the period considered we have had the one losing day from 7, and have clawed back the losses from the previous week in the bad run, adding back 29pts to our total. Happy with.

(Today has not been great though, but will wait for all bets to be settled before updating.)

Noodles Blue Boy 2nd as the 2pt bet, despite going off 8/1, stayed on well but just left too much to do = -2pts

So three selections did not run, leaving a close 2nd for our 2pt bet and overall -3pts lost.

Tuesday 22nd May System Bets:

Welsh Inlet was a rare 3pt bet, but lost in highly frustrating cicumstances as the saddle appeared to slip when running through, leading late on = -3pts
Ollney Lass always behind = -1pt
Bapak Pinter one paced = -1pt

So the bad run continues and in very annoying terms with -5pts lost.

That brings us up to date, and the last few days have not been kind, after a decent run. York was poor (except for Gatewood) and we haven't really picked up. The run since the flat got going has been quite good though, so I guess a little drop off was expected. Let us hope variance plays its part once more and turns it around :)

Not the greatest couple of days then, and as stated in the summary, a tad unfortunate in the selections which have gone well. Part and parcel of racing.

Overall - system bets and tracking bets - a reoccurring theme applied - a lot started well but for one reason or another didn't suit the difficult conditions, with plenty tailing off or weakening. I do feel had we had 'better' conditions then we may have had a different few days. Keep ploughing on.

Aldershot drew 2-2 away to Crewe, with a 76th minute wonder volley costing us = -2pts
Bournemouth WON 1-0 as a 2pt bet = +1.66pts
Bury were well beaten 3-0 away to Stevenage = -2pts
Frankfurt drew 1-1 = -1pt
Hartlepool held the lead away to Charlton for a long time, before a flurry of goals late on cost them in a 3-2 defeat = -1pt
Hereford WON 3-2 against arch-enemies Torquay, but it was not without scare. Hereford raced into a 3-0 HT score, before two quick strikes after the break from Torquay looked to have resigned from another crushing loss. Fortunately Hereford survived, just = +2.31pts
KV Mechelen lost 1-2 = -1pt
Rotherham drew 1-1 with Northampton, after conceding a 95th minute equaliser, despite deserving to win. = -2pts
Slavia Sofia WON 1-2 = +1.01pts

So we record a -3.4pts loss, which has been decided by the Rotherham game effectively. I guess that sums up the season - it has not been nice one bit.

Tuesday 1st:
Lupo Doro went off odds on fav @ 4/5 but despite looking good, just lacked the extra = -1pt
Saratoga Slew 2nd, staying on well to chase down the leader, but just a fraction short = -1pt
Rydalis WON @ adv 5/1, making all and finishing well clear by 10 or so lengths = +5pts
Alpha One weakened late on to tail off = -1pt
Midnight Sequel was always in the mix, but was just found wanting a touch = -1pt

So one winner from 5 bets means a +1pt added to the total


Wednesday 2nd:
Sri Putra WON @ adv 7/1, hanging on by a nose after being driven on well late on = +7pts
Relax WON @ adv 7/4, and whilst not overly convincing, had too much to hold on = +1.75pts
Colour Vision WON @ adv 13/2, quickening up well when required, and then staying on strongly = +6.5pts
Teddy's Reflection couldn't make it 4/4, despite being crushed in from adv 7/1 to 7/2f. Weakened = -1pt

So a good day nonetheless with 3 winners from 4 bets, and +14.25pts profit recorded


Thursday 3rd:
Molko Jack was brought down = -1pt
Nadeen was reluctant to leave the stalls, and was then never in the race = -1pt
Law To Himself 3rd, just being edged out of 2nd, in a decent run = -1pt
Gracie's Gift 2nd, but always chasing as just outpaced by the winner = -1pt
Golac chased the pack early on, but pretty much pulled up = -1pt
Katmai River WON as the 2pt bet @ adv 7/2, driven out well to win = +7pts
Lord Of The Storm 2nd despite looking to have won, but just pipped = -1pt
Welsh Inlet WON, providing us with a decent profit. Again well backed, but ran on well enough = +6pts

So 2 winners from 8 bets, including a 2pt bet meaning +7pts added to the total


Friday 4th:
Sound Advice led early on, but weakened to tail well off = -1pt

Just the 1 pick, and a -1pt loss


Saturday 5th:
Mayfield Girl WON, making all, and staying strong under pressure = +3.33pts
Helium never in it = -1pt
Original Prankster drifted in the betting, and a poor run supported this = -1pt
Lifetime WON @ adv 4/1, showing good character to stay in the race, holding on well = +4pts
Figaro 2nd did lead, but edged out = -1pt
West End Lad weakened = -1pt
Dust Whirl 2nd, looking to have every chance, but just short of the 16/1 winner = -1pt

So just 2 winners from 7 bets, but still +2.33pts added. A little frustrating with a couple of close 2nds though


Sunday 6th:
Alive And Kicking WON as the 2pt to keep up the run, going off 11/4, holding on well = +5.5pts
Vocational was going well, until tailing off 1 furlong out = -1pt
Georgebernardshaw also weakened when seemingly going well = -1pt
Getabuzz 2nd, but always inferior to the winner = -1pt
Sandusky went ok, but always one paced = -1pt
Local Hero 2nd, ridden on gamely but no chance with the winner = -1pt
Maybe 3rd, going off the well backed fav, but not enough = -1pt
Seal Rock never really into it = -1pt
Arsaadi went off a supremely well backed fav 6/1-5/2f but did not deliver = -1pt

So on the right side of some prices, but a couple of picks which couldn't quite get there leaves us with -2.5pts on the day


Monday 7th
Captain Blue outpaced and unable to form a decent challenge = -1pt
Monsieur Pontaven 3rd just falling short = -1pt
Cardinal never in it = -1pt

So a disappointing day, but can not complain too much after a decent run. -3pts lost

Caledonia Lady took a while to get going, and this proved costly = -1pt

Sun 6th:
Moonstone Magic always in the rear = -1pt

So not the greatest start to the tracking bets, but that is why the advice is a watching brief for now.

A good day yesterday then with 3/4 selections winning. Teddy's Reflection was the one that let us down, but it was caved into, going off 7/2f from advised 7/1. The 3-way acca at advised prices paid 164/1, but the 4-way would have paid a very nice 1319/1....shame! Ah well, I am confident one day we will hit something like that, just a case of when, rather than if... (I say with much hope!) Onto today, and we have a busier day to get stuck into with 8 selections, which if all rolled up would pay 802,619/1 at advised prices, so fair to say, it won't happen!
